Possible Coach Trade?

Profootballtalk.com is reporting that it might be the end of the Brian Billick era. They are even reporting that a trade suggesting that one of the close-but-no-cigar squads might want to make a run at Jon Gruden. Given that the big-defense, no-offense Ravens are a lot like the pre-Gruden Buccaneers, maybe Bisciotti tries to pull off the swap. Gruden is said to be the best coach for a one year fix.

Most league observers assume that Bucs coach Jon Gruden won't be fired by the team because, to date, he hasn't been.
But a league source tells us that the Glazer family, which owns the team, has some lingering concerns regarding
the current structure, and that "something still could happen" with Gruden. What that "something" is remains to be seen. Maybe he would be fired, maybe he would be allowed to leave. We continue to be intrigued by the possibility that the Chargers, Ravens, and/or Colts (at least one of which
will lose this weekend) could consider making a change. Given the manner in which Gruden arrived at Tampa and took a chronically close-but-no-cigar club
to a championship in one year, we wouldn't be shocked at all if someone considers making a switch to the perpetually pissed-off coach.Of course, the problem is that, if one of these other teams makes a move, they'll need to hold the cards close to the vest, since compliance with the Rooney Rule is mandatory.
Five years ago, Gruden jumped to the Bucs from the Raiders.
Oakland got two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and $8 million.

Billick is a knucklehead with that playcalling in the second half! How can you not pound the ball in that situation? He played to Indy's defensive strength like a dope:

I'm linking on that site to 'Its a Man's World...' - - - sorry about James Brown passing away

I agree, but try having Grudens ego all season long. Id take Billick and Ravens can have Gruden.

I don't know both of them well enough to compare egos, but in general NFL coaches have big ones. To me the Bucs got old and antequated, then suffered from having no quarterback for too long.

Drew Brees becomes available, Tampa, Dallas...they aren't players in that bidding war? So what's it now? Troy Smith or Brady Quinn I'd imagine...

A top notch backup, someone who can really step in and play if needbe...
